The broad purpose for the Multi-Association Joint Committee (MAJC) is to create an arena for county/state level planning, training and technical assistance development, and other collaborative activities in order to meet the mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) service needs of youth in the juvenile justice system; and to promote fair and equal justice for all children and youth.

The Goals for MAJC include:

  • Identify opportunities for collaborative efforts among associations and other entities that will impact relevant service systems
  • Monitor and make recommendations regarding legislation by: - Providing technical assistance for development of legislation - Advising associations regarding legislation - Advising and developing recommendations and resources to assist with implementation of legislation
  • Promote promising practices that encourage strength-based, developmentally appropriate, family focused, gender specific, and culturally relevant programs
  • Develop training, technical assistance and research priorities and activities
  • Act as an advisory committee to other entities engaging in activities that will impact the mental health and AOD needs of youth in juvenile justice
  • Encourage and support the development of a state-wide plan, which includes collaboration among state agencies, for this population
